Awesome Viking Valkyrie Images
In Norse mythology, Odin had many beautiful female helping spirits. They helped Odin to choose and bring the souls of the bravest warriors who fell in battle to Valhalla the Great Hall for the Fallen.
Unlike other mythology, the Viking Valkyries did not play the harps inside the hall and they did not dance to entertain others. They wielded weapons to join battle and pick up the bravest souls for Odin the Allfather.
Some sources also mentioned that the Valkyrie protected the wounded warriors in battle.
Helmeted valkyries came down from the sky
the noise of spears grew loud
they protected the prince;
then said Sigrun
the wound-giving valkyries flew,
the troll-woman's mount was
feasting on the fodder of ravens
According to the historians and the archaeologists, the Vikings once worshipped the Valkyries. They made a lot of amulets featuring a woman holding a drinking horn with a loop in their hair and wearing long dress. On some ancient stones that dated back to the Viking Age, Valkyries also appeared to welcome Odin on his eight-legged horse Sleipnir coming back to Valhalla.
